I have a passion for God and a passion for young people. As the youth pastor of
Vienna SDA Church I am thrilled that part of my responsibilities include working closely with VAA. Interacting with the young people and seeing their passion for life and God is what keeps me sane. I thoroughly enjoy spending time in each of the classrooms and interacting with the students on many other levels, such as chapel, baptismal classes, field trips, substitute teaching, and just hanging out. I love it when the students find their way into my office to just chat!
A little about my background, I was born in Flint MI, but spent very little time there. My parents soon after began tree planting, which means that we lived in a green school bus that my father turned into a mobile home. From there we began a 3 ½ year traveling experience in which I have lived in or driven through most of the states on the mainland. From there my parents settled in Pennsylvania, which I consider my childhood home. Although I lived in PA for eleven years I have never lived in a single home for more than a three-year span. I will say that I am very much looking forward to breaking this record here in Vienna.
I graduated from Blue Mountain Academy in 1999 and proceeded to Columbia Union College where I studied Theology. I graduated from CUC in 2003 with my BA in Metropolitan Ministries, a concentration of Theology. I was hired by the Potomac Conference my senior year and sent directly to Andrews Theological Seminary. I graduated from Seminary in December of 2005 with my Master of Divinity. After graduation I moved to Maryland and worked for the Potomac Conference doing various small jobs until the position at Vienna SDA church opened up. I began working here at Vienna in July of 2006.
My bio would not be complete without mentioning the most important person, other than God, in my life. I have the amazing privilege of being married to the most wonderful man in the world. Kevin Deans was my high school sweetheart. After dating a short time we split. Then ten years later through what could have only been God's divine orchestration, we were married July 9, 2006. He is my best friend and partner in ministry. Our life is also a little more interesting and fun now that we have our little dog, Bella.
God has blessed me in more ways that I can count and I am looking forward to seeing what other blessings he has in store for me here at Vienna!
